Focus On Nutrition

Positively speaking, nutrition is the good we get from the food we eat that helps our bodies work. Since food is made up of different types of nutrients, there is a need to understand which ones contribute to a nutritious meal. The nutrients that people generally need to take into account are carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water. Negatively speaking, malnutrition is the failure to get the nutrients into our bodies that help us function well. Someone who suffers from malnutrition is more likely to catch diseases and will have adverse effects on the functions in their body such as the brain, eyesight, organs, height, weight, etc.

The point of eating, and doing it right, is to provide the body with the forms of food that will produce the energy to function properly.

Good nutrition puts the kind of food in the body that brings about good growth, maintenance, repair, and/or reproduction. These ideas are certainly important for anyone training in the martial arts.

Think about how much water you can lose when you go through an extremely tough self-defense aerobic workout that lasts for 30 to 40 minutes. Consider the fact that conditioning for breaking techniques often results in minor pains and sometimes injury. Even though training may put to use protective gear, accidents still happen during grappling and sparring sessions.

Good nutrition under these circumstances requires the body to be well hydrated with water to replenish nutrients lost through heavy sweating.

Eating foods high in protein are key for repairing the body in relation to injuries and minor pains. Of course, without immediate food sources that produce energy, the body will wear down quickly—so getting the proper amount of carbs is also necessary.

You like to exercise regularly, but you also have to eat wisely because there must be a balance with both in order to remain healthy. One of the primary reasons many people train in the martial arts is to lose weight, but in order to supplement the hard workouts you should get lots of protein because it helps burn fat.

Wise martial artists will always keep the balance between exercise and nutrition to remain healthy.
