2nd Red Belt (2nd Kup)

No matter how much work, no matter how tired or sore you are, no matter what else is going on in your life, you come this far --- you can't quit.  You are only a couple of steps away from your quest.  Your Black Belt is near, and as you have learned by now, with your Black Belt comes a whole new beginning.

It is incredibly right that for your Red Belt you are taught persistence.  Too often in other sports, as you near the goal, your strength wanes and you falter.  Be aware of the trap. You must k ep going. What good is a marathon team if the last runner doesn't complete the race.  Does it matter how well their teammate did?  Of course not. Can a doctor consider him or herself a healer if they perform only the operation without following through to make sure the patient heals without infection or complications, if they stop short of their goal?  What sort of parents would we make if, as our child was nearing independence and maturity, we gave up and told them to go the rest of their lives on their own?

Persistence pays--- always and forever.  The rewards go to those who complete the race.  When you are tired, don’t back off, work harder!  If you say to yourself, "well, I'm almost there so I can take it a little easier."  Go to classes more often.  Be persistent. Get pumped.  You are Master Lee's student.  The reputation of your Martial Arts school lies on you.  Only through your persistence can you pay back all that you have learned and earned in your life. Do it for yourself

Apply the power of persistence.  Persistence is pushing on when you really want to stop.  Reap the rewards of completing the job that you have started.  This quality in your life will get you through the worst of times.  There is a phrase, "Quitters never win and winners never quit," which just about says it all. The rewards of your persistence will be far sweeter because you will know that you have done what it takes to get to where you are.  Your persistence will turn your mistakes into learning experiences.

The Red Belt signifies Danger, cautioning the student to exercise control, and warning the opponent to stay away.  Press on through the heat, come through the other side. Keep up your persistence, justify our pride in you.  More than that, build the best YOU that you can --- go the extra mile. Finish your quest.
