Hyun Su’s Big Dreams

One morning, Master Kyung was sitting on the patio with his grandson, Hyun Su. Hyun Su had to do his chores before practicing his Taekwondo lesson.

I don’t want to do these stupid chores, he thought.

“Grandfather, when may I start learning how to really fight?” he asked Master Kyung.

“My Grandson, first you must learn the art of discipline, so you may know the proper way to handle your great warrior-like fighting abilities once they are learned,” he responded with great optimism.

“What great fighting abilities? All I do is clean and practice my Taekwondo. I want to fight for my king, King Sejong,” Hyun Su argued.

“That is where you are wrong. By working and being responsible, you are conditioning your mind. When you practice your Taekwondo, you are conditioning your body and your mind. Now you must condition your spirit and dream of yourself as that fighting warrior for King Sejong. Take all that you have learned with your skills as a martial artist and think of what you are and will be in the years to come! You will be a fighting champion if you keep doing as you are. Never give up and always envision yourself as more than what you are today and work to that goal. It will seem like that day will arrive before you even realize.”

Hyun Su remained true to his disciplines and became a great warrior and fighter for King Sejong.
