Min-Ki Must Concentrate Tales & Traditions

One day, Min-Ki was helping his brother, Chin-Ho with the chores. They had to finish their chores first before they could practice the katana with their father. Their father, Hyun-Shik was a great warrior and was training his sons to be great warriors like him.

While cleaning, Min-Ki was trying to get ahead of himself and started to swing the katana over his head like a skilled warrior.

“What are you doing?” his father asked him.

“I am a great warrior, like you father,” Min-Ki replied.

Hyun-Shik liked that his son was anxious, however he must not do what he is not ready to do. Min-Ki must first do his chores then practice with him to know the basics of the katana.

“Please, put the katana down. Listen to me, my son. First, you must start slowly. It has taken me many, many years to become a great swordsman and warrior. When I was your age, I could barely lift the katana and you are lifting and swinging it over your head! You will become a great warrior my son. You must concentrate on what you are doing, whether it is cleaning or mastering the sword. Do not think of anything else. If you are a warrior fighting, your enemy will kill you when you are not paying attention. When you learn to utilize all of your energy from within each and every second you are fighting, that energy will illuminate making you a great warrior.”

Min-Ki said, “Father, you are truly wise and I am proud you are my father.”
Now finish your chores and I will teach you the katana when you are done.”
